Writer and broadcaster Cameron McNeish joined Kingussie Community Development Company (KCDC) members Dick Webster and Andy Dunn and COAT West Cairngorms Access Project Officer Ewan Thain on a fine mid-winter’s day to walk from Lynchat through to Newtonmore.

The group set-out early past historic Raitts cave above Lynchat and more or less followed the old drove route through Glen Gynack and past the ruins of Auchtuchle township out onto the high ground above Newtonmore.

Cameron was there with Andy and Dick to see the potential for walks around Kingussie and Newtonmore highlighted in the newly published walks map available at the bookshop in Kingussie.

Cameron enthuses about the route in his last ‘Wild Weekend’ Column for the Sunday Herald and in last week’s ‘Strathy’ and also posted on his own website.

The walk really highlighted the potential for fantastic outdoor access opportunities within Badenoch and Strathspey.
