Susie Verden-Anderson joins OATS as Trust Administrator

We are delighted to announce that Susie Verden-Anderson has joined OATS as Trust Administrator.

Susie, who will be based in our office in Bridge of Allan on a part-time basis, has a key role in providing direct support to the Chief Executive and Chairman.  She will lead on financial processes, administer external grant claims, assist with Car Parking invoicing and permits, liaise with stakeholders, affiliates, donors, and the public, and general office admin activity.

Before starting with OATS in early April, Susie worked for an outdoor play manufacturer.  For over twenty years she played a key role in helping the company to grow from small beginnings. She especially enjoyed meeting the customers and suppliers at conferences and events and was involved in everything from sales, customer services, marketing, and accounts to product development and social media communication.

Championing outdoor learning and education was always at the forefront of her mind at this time. She always felt that by helping children to enjoy their outdoor environment and natural heritage they will be much more likely to respect and fight for it as they grow.

Susie Verden-Anderson said: “Being outside is where I’m happiest, whether it be walking, chatting, swimming, or just sitting on a rock or patch of grass. As I have aged, I realise the importance of protecting our beautiful and fragile landscapes and working towards giving them a sustainable future for the benefit of others. I hope that I can contribute and support OATS in their mission.”

Susie has three sons, rescue hens and cats, and a creative husband. In recent years Susie and her husband have enjoyed learning a new mini-skill. So far they have tried stone carving, stain glass cutting, wooden stool making, and for 2023 they will be learning how to carve wooden bowls.

She has walked with girlfriends in the Czech Republic, Madeira and Crete, and this year Menorca is on the agenda. Just to walk and chat and think …. the simple pleasures.

Susie’s interests include photography, Scottish heritage and she particularly enjoys exploring amazing old Scottish graveyards and searching out 18th-century gravestones.
