Shona Irvine appointed as OATS’ Activity Projects Manager

OATS is delighted to announce that Shona Irvine has today, 05-01-22, started her new role as Activity Projects Manager. She will lead on volunteering and maintenance in the Cairngorms and throughout Scotland, and assist in the delivery of Activity Projects in the Cairngorms.

Having grown up in Aviemore Shona loves the outdoors whether it is running, biking, swimming, or meandering.

She studied ecological and environmental sciences at Edinburgh University followed by a Masters Degree in Conservation. On return from university, she realised just how lucky she had always been to access the hills so easily and how keen she was to enable others to enjoy the outdoors, while also protecting the landscape.

Shona has worked and volunteered with a range of organisations from turtle surveys in the Canadian wetlands and invasive species management in Edinburgh parks to Reindeer Herding near Aviemore. Most recently she worked in habitat restoration work for the RSPB and as a Nature Reserves Officer for NatureScot.

She is passionate about working with people and the natural landscape. She is really looking forward to working in the areas where she has walked, skied, and climbed all her life.

We wish her all the best in her new role.
