Evaluation report for The Mountains and the People (TMTP) project published

The final evaluation report for The Mountains and the People (TMTP) project reviews all aspects of the project and highlights outputs, outcomes, and impact.

TMTP represents the largest and most complex upland path partnership project ever to be undertaken in the UK. It built and rebuilt more than 120km of paths at a cost of £5.6m. Walkers, landowners, and conservation interests have seen remarkable upgrades to high pressure ‘front-line’ upland paths in both Cairngorms National Park and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, protecting the mountain environment with unobtrusive yet durable builds.

The project was led, inspired, initiated, planned, and built by the Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland (OATS), in partnership with Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA), Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority (LLTNPA), Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and NatureScot (NS), together with the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) who provided 58% project funding.

The project delivered a wide range of physical improvements, with a wide range of opportunities for people to get involved with conserving and learning about the mountains within Scotland’s national parks.
