24 Jan OATS appoint Willie Grant as new Fairy Pools Facility Manager
The Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland is delighted to announce that Willie Grant, a former Senior Service Supervisor in the oil and gas industry, who was born and brought up in Carbost, Skye, starts his role as Fairy Pools Facility Manager today (24-01-22), following the retirement of Niki Maclean.
As Fairy Pools Facility Manager Willie will run the Fairy Pools Car Park Facility at Glen Brittle on a full-time basis. He will be responsible for the day to day running of the Facility including providing information to visitors, management of full time and casual/seasonal staff, procuring and managing suppliers and services, statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements of the site, and liaison with stakeholders and the public.

Willie was born and brought up in Carbost, just four miles from the Fairy Pools. He has always enjoyed hillwalking. When he was younger he used to walk in the Cuillins (not climbing, he never has had a head for heights!). He has a fascination for history and enjoys exploring ancient monuments, buildings, graveyards, and sites of historical interest, as well as visiting museums. He also has a keen interest in all things four-wheeled and vehicle restoration.
With a training in mechanical engineering and a broad range of additional qualifications, Willie has 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry. As a successful Senior Service Supervisor, he managed offshore teams carrying out rig surveys and the installation and operation of equipment. He was based in Aberdeen from the early 1980’s but travelled all over the world with work.
He moved back to Skye at the earliest opportunity and is excited to be working so close to home.
