The Ballater Golf Course Path runs alongside the River Dee from the Ballater Caravan Park to Sluivannichie Car Park; new sections of path were constructed in 2006 under the Eastern Cairngorms Access Project; One of the main construction features of the path is a raised grass paved causeway to protect it from occasional spates from the River Dee. The construction of the causeway brought the whole 2km section up to All Abilities standard.
