This is the most popular route to take up Lochnagar and can be very busy on a beautiful day. As you make the initial climb you can see the wonderful peak ahead of you. Further up it opens up at the saddle where you can take a short detour up Meikle Pap for amazing views of the corrie of Lochnagar. The final stage is a nice gentle steady climb to the summit where you are met with stunning views across the Cairngorms. Taking the loop path back down you will pass by the beautiful waterfall, which is great to dip your toes into on a warm summer’s day! Coming back down you will come out of the forest to find Loch Muick and it’s a gentle walk back round the loch.
