Path Map

Lairig Ghru

A popular, historic and iconic hill pass through the heart of the central Cairngorms, providing access to Braeriach, Corrour bothy, neighbouring Munros and linking Speyside to Deeside. Climbing to around 835 metres, it is one of the wildest areas in the country, and is a popular cross Cairngorms route.

Work was completed on the three northern sections prioritised for repair within the Cairngorms Mountain Heritage Project in 2012.  One section was rebuilt with light touch repairs and beyond this the work predominantly involved the construction of water bars, cross drains, containment and landscaping which will help prevent erosion of the path and path edge vegetation.
