This is the most popular route up Ben Venue and can be very busy on a nice day. I particularly like the lower parts of the path as it crosses the Achray Water, where the waterfalls that can be spectacular after rain, before entering a lovely wooded area. Higher up in Glen Riabhach a lot of the forest has been felled.
Going up towards the ridge there is a short rocky section followed by a muddy section. Beyond the large cairn, which is as far as the constructed path goes, there is still quite a stiff climb to the summit but the rewards are magnificent views of Loch Katrine, Loch Achray and Loch Venachar and the surrounding hills.
