Trainees Tackle Maintenance on Meall a Bhuachaille

The Trainees took to the heights of Meall a Bhuachaille to learn all about path maintenance and why its one of the key factors in path construction. They learned how to clean out waterbars, cross drains and make sure all ditching was all clear from any debris. They were also taught how to rebuild the 7 waterbars that were just off the summit. Over the years these had shown a bit of wear and tear with surfacing disappearing from behind the back stone to further down the path, which was causing a bit of a step up for walkers who were then deciding to walk around the waterbar. The trainees resolved this problem by taking out the waterbars and replacing them, making sure that the height was lower and at the right height for the path surface.
